Bob Wheeling was one of the most decorated athletes to come out of Gaylesville High School. He was a four year starting quarterback for the Trojans and concluded his high school career with an undefeated season. His athletic talents were also displayed on the hardwood where he was the starting varsity point guard for three years. During his senior year, Bob helped lead the Trojans to a county championship with a victory over Cherokee County High School in the tournament finals. With Bob’s leadership abilities, the Trojan basketball team finished the regular season with a 25-3 record. Bob set a school, single game scoring record with 37 points against CCHS. He also averaged 23 points per game his senior year, and he did all this without the advantage of a three point line.
