David Bedwell played football at Cedar Bluff High School for five years. He was also a member of the high school basketball team where he was named to the All-County Team two-years and All-Area Team one year. David went on to play college football at the University of Alabama where he won a national championship and two bowl victories. After graduating from the University of Alabama, David became a successful coach of various sports including football, basketball, track, and tennis. David’s successful coaching career included three county girls’ basketball championships, three area girls’ basketball championships, and culminated with a girls’ basketball state championship at Spring Garden High School in 1987. David is the only person in Cherokee County history to win a state championship as both a high school player and coach as well as a national championship as a college player.
