As an 8th grader, Terry Gamble began a brilliant basketball career at Spring Garden High School. A five year starter, Gamble would make an indelible mark as the most prolific scorer in Panther history. Gamble led the Class 1A Panthers to three county championships, three area championships, and one region championship. In his senior season (1975-76), Gamble guided Spring Garden to its first state tournament appearance. In Gamble’s career (1971-1976), the Panthers accumulated over 100 wins. Many of those victories were over teams from larger schools. Although he never played with a 3-point line, Gamble held a career-scoring average of over 20 points per game. The 5’10” guard played in the 1976 North-South All-Star game in Tuscaloosa and helped stage a comeback win for the North by netting 18 points. Gamble closed out his basketball career at Jacksonville State University.
