Coach Bobby Joe Johnson graduated from Cherokee County High School in 1958. He then played for Coach Paul “Bear” Bryant before transferring to Jacksonville State University. While at JSU, he received the coveted Alabama Collegiate Conference
MVP award during his playing days. After a distinguished coaching career, Cherokee County High School renamed
its football field “Warrior Stadium-Bobby Joe Johnson Field” in September 1999.
