Paul W. “Shorty” Trammell was a rare athlete who performed at extraordinary levels in several different arenas. Shorty helped Cherokee County High School to a 9-1-1 record during the 1968 season and its first ever playoff appearance. The three-time team captain at Samford University was not only outstanding on the gridiron, but he also signed a professional baseball contract at the end of his football career.
